A quick update to let you know that I’ve added new content to my site. There are new photos and panoramas there of Pewsey and the local area with some carnival content as well. Talking of which, this years carnival appeared to go of well, but unfortunately I missed most of it due to ill health.

I don't know if any of the local peeps saw the spectacular sunset the other evening but in case you missed it here is one photo below.

New Blog: Cancelled due to lack of interest

also the local music scene

If any local peeps want to contribute on the PMF blog let us know (email or comments below), so if you are organising any gigs in pubs, village halls etc or any news/gossip about the local music scene around ~~Pewsey~~ ~~let us know. It would be great if all the music info was all in one place.~~
On the blog you will find a photo set of the Convulsions gig at the Coopers Arms last Sunday. As promised in my previous post much jollity did prevail and as a bonus the sun came out so we were all outside.

A Post to test Apture

Here is a quick post to test the use of apture So bear with me as I try out the multi media options. Ok that was straight forward now let's see with some more difficult subject matter. How about Pewsey? Well I am impressed it found my own photo on Flickr. Lets carry on, Pewsey Music Festival ok it found me again and not much more but ah!

Pewsey Music Festival 2009

Well it finally happened and what a super time everybody had. The bands were great, the food excellent, the beer so good we nearly drunk the pub dry and last and not least the sun was out. Just like to say a big thank you to all the people involved in organising such a great event. You all know who you are but a special thank you to Lizzie for making it happen. Photos will be posted on the festival web site when everybody gets their breath back but in the mean time here's a collage of the days events as a taster.

Pewsey Music Festival

Only 1 week to go before the festival (and its still raining) but after our experience with 2007 (more rain) it will certainly go ahead so see you there (I’ll be the one with the camera in a plastic bag (the camera not me)).

I have also updated my web site with a couple of new photos including another panorama which I took between rain this week. Honestly the sun did come out briefly see the photos.

Relay for Life 2009 Pewsey

Another update to my site.

I have added some photos of this years Relay for Life event held on Sat 18th July at the Coopers Arms Pewsey on my site The Home of Ken Burton. Unfortunately the great British weather played its part in its usual fashion but it didn’t discourage the participants who bravely struggled on. Unfortunately due to the inclement conditions and prior commitments I missed the candle of hope ceremony and the next days events, but well done to all that took part.

Here is great video for all you bloggers out. There is a lot of common sense in this especially with all the gadgets and widgets available. It is certainly important to ensure that any thing on the side bar fits in with the rest of the site. As I haven’t been blogging long my sidebar is, hopefully, uncluttered but leave a comment if you disagree. (p.s.The fish tank stays)

Panoramio Map on my Site

Just put a Panoramio Map of Pewsey on my site The Home of Ken Burton. If anyone else wants to do the same for their area, the instructions are on the Panoramio web site (look for Panoramio API).

As I have some photos there, (and Google Earth), its a good way to showcase your work. However the satellite image whilst being clear and high resolution is way out of date. I would estimate that it is at least 5 to 6 years old. I only hope that Google road maps are more up to date .

Pewsey Flickr Groups

Calling all photographers who live or travel through the Vale of Pewsey. I am a member of Pewsey Wiltshire and Surrounding Area Group on Flickr and it would be nice too see some more members there. There is also a Wiltshire group and a Kennet and Avon canal group. So if you’ve got a digital camera and access to a computer and the internet (which if you haven’t how are you reading this) or a film camera and a scanner, then come along and join. I have updated my home page on BKKK The Home of Ken Burton with more information about Pewsey and me. Hopefully the navigation menu should allow the spiders to crawl my site better as the rest of the site was using flash buttons and text (depreciated in Dreamweaver CS4).

Pewsey Music Festival 2009

Pewsey Music Festival 2009 will feature a mix of original music with bands from Wiltshire and beyond.

We're delighted to announce.........Jon Amor and his band will be headlining and Samantha Marais is on in the afternoon. More details to come here, but meanwhile click to go to the websites.
The Julian Tulk Band - Newbury band with multiple influences subtly breathing through this music for the people.
Beatbullyz - Swindon finest funk/hip-hop/ska trio, who opened Radio 1's Big Weekend in Swindon.
The Operation - a classic-rock three-piece of virtuoso twenty-somethings from Frome - back by popular demand.
I Said Yes - indie-folk outfit from within the Pewsey Vale....."much dancing has already occurred"
The Funkinsteins - party funk with a rocky edge - legends on the Bristol circuit.
ONE MORE ACT to be confirmed soon. Plus - aural tasters of the day's music and photos of the musicians.
This year we are holding a semi-acoustic open mic contest during the afternoon. The winner(s) will get to play a couple of numbers on the main stage in the early evening.
Kaya Drums will again run a drum workshop.

Thanks to the involvement of Pewsey Area Community Trust (PACT) there will also be demonstrations from local artists and craftsmen; many magical stalls; and children's entertainment from Mad Pete.

Tickets are only a fiver and kids (under 12) are free so there is no excuse for not turning up. The Coopers Arms will be hosting a number of real ales if you need more reasons.
